English irregular verbs – practise 120 irregular verbs in Past Simple with sentences and pictures

This video deals with the most common English irregular verbs in alphabetic order. Each irregular verb comes with two example sentences, the first one is a question and the second one is an affirmative sentence in Past Simple. The past participle form (V3) is only pronounced but there is no example sentence provided. I thought it would be appropriate not to leave the third form out even if there is no example sentence with V3 because memorizing the verb at this stage is more important than using a more complex structure. The second reason that this video does not give the learner example sentences for the past participle form is that learners might find Past Simple and Present Perfect tense easily confusable when they are presented with both examples, especially Hungarian learners of English.

The video is put together in a way that learners will have enough time for saying the verbs and the sentences out loud not just reading the content, therefore I recommend saying the verbs and sentences right after hearing them.
The irregular verbs are commonly used and all of them have multiple meanings. In this video, there is only one meaning presented and the images also refer to one meaning only. I am well aware that there are many other meanings, and the one that is presented might not be the most common one or the one that you use. Also, many irregular verbs have different correct pronunciation which you may not find in this video.

What does kneel mean and how do we use kneel in the past tense?

To kneel is an irregular verb and it means to go down on one or both knees.
We kneel for many reasons.
Look at these examples;
I kneel every morning to tie my shoelaces. = general time
I knelt to tie my shoelaces yesterday. = finished time
I have knelt to tie my shoelaces many times this week. = unfinished time.
I knelt before her can be interpreted in several ways watch this short video and understand what the irregular verb ‘to kneel’ means and how to use it in the present and past tenses.
Knowing verbs like to kneel will help you be more fluent when you speak English.
Read this short story which uses several tenses of the verb to kneel.
Kneeling
There are many different reasons for kneeling and the dictionary tells us that it means to have one or both of your knees on the floor.
Yesterday I was trying to remember the last time I knelt this was not an easy thing to do because I do not kneel very often.
At least that is what I thought until I realized that I kneel several times every day and I have knelt at least ten times this week.
In fact, I kneel every time I put my shoes on and I kneel when my shoelaces come undone (and that is quite often)
The reason I thought that I do not kneel very often is that I associated kneeling with all the noble ideas of kneeling the Queen asks/commands you to kneel when she knights you (that means makes you a Sir,) and I know for a fact that I have never knelt before the Queen of England.
We kneel when we ask a woman to marry us in my case my wife was so desperate to marry me, she knelt and asked me!
We kneel when we say our prayers before going to bed but I haven’t knelt to do that since I was 5 years old.
We kneel to ask for forgiveness I mean to ask someone to forgive us when we have done something bad to them but I haven’t knelt since 1999.
When was the last time you knelt?
The list of reasons we kneel seems to be endless.
